Gilbert and Teri are life-long residents of Port Isabel where Gilbert has been a respected and successful fishing guide for over 25 years and Teri, a teacher and coach.  With Teri about to retire, both decided they wanted to branch out and do something just a little out of the ordinary.  Looking for something that would bring new and exciting entertainment to the area, Gilbert and ran across the idea of a fast boat.  After a little research, he decided on a manufacturer to build what we now know as the Sea Rocket, a 34” catamaran power boat that offers thrill rides through the Laguna Madre and Gulf of Mexico.  The Vela’s brought the new addition to the Island in 2006 and began offering exciting adventures for thrill seekers of every age.
